Can we get a working version of communism? Democratic socialism? I haven't researched this, so I will post more after researching.
Communism, with its perhaps deeper coffers and ability to experiment in the name of the public good, could have reduced dependency on fossil fuels more, no? Damned pop. Damned Dunkin' Donuts. Saved my health. Assigns job rules according to utility; each person feels equal pain for 1 hour of work. Manufacturing could come back. Free college. Ability to sink money into profitable enterprises. Equal quality schools. Better healthcare; less gluttony by the health system. Reduce redundancies. Shared houses. Humility. Are these all guaranteed? No. It all depends on government income and perhaps could be accomplished with a democratic republic, etc.
At a certain point, it becomes very attractive (at least government control of the economy).
