After watching sports on TV, skilled professionals...
WTF WAS JV IN HIGH SCHOOL?
And I mean this in the sense...on my basketball team...we couldn't score! Like, we could run plays, we could dribble, we could pass...but we were all dumbasses who never practiced shooting outside of practice! Watch as this feels like a junior high school game...still. The star is just the tall person. I was on the team (tee hee hee), and I couldn't reliable make it from two feet away. And I just look retrospectively and think...with the brighter lens of the future...what the hell was that?
AND SOCCER?
None of us could score. The drill to shoot the ball into the corner yielded only several goals towards the center. We couldn't do this drill for long because the balls were out in nevereverland. There were cuts for this team. Oh my Lord. None of us practiced outside of practice, the coach knew nothing but drills, and the coach just watches this travesty every day and we just don't do that drill very often.
Earnest and clueless, we practiced every day like dumbasses who had no shame or awareness or hope, surrounded only by like. TITLE 9 needed to PAY for a REAL COACH, like a men's coach. I think we knew we were bad, like not game ready. We did okay on the drills. The other team, some say surprisingly, was also always bad. It's like when I was younger and scored a goal by kicking towards the goal, accidentally not passing, and having the ball thread through everyone's legs to score a "touchdown." At least they let me play back then.
Hurrah for women's sports.
Did anyone else ever end up on a "fake team"?
